I had the pleasure of running into an old friend at the Schwab Impact conference in Denver yesterday. Impact is an annual conference for independent advisors who work with Schwab. Andy and I started in the business together more than 20 years ago. We were 20-something stockbrokers peddling IPOs at a small Boulder investment bank. We later worked together at Schwab. Andy is still with Schwab helping to deliver investment advice to the mass affluent. I work with high-net-worth clients. We’ve have both had great success since those formative years of trying to “break in.”
